Muscle Fibres

Two years ago I made a paper exoskeleton inspired by my Anorexia, as an attempt to remind myself not to be like that. My recovery since found me becoming obssessed with weight training, to such a point that I have damaged my back, and at one point could not weight train or move much at all. So this peice is again designed to be a warning to myself to be careful, and treat my body kindly.
Although it is a personal message to myself, I also regard it as a warning to the viewer not to go to far into the extrem. The peice hinders arm and shoulder movement as if one were to have suffered a sport’s injury.
The materials I used are glued threads, to resemble muscle fibres, so that on first glance people would understand the overall concept. I hoped to make a communicative peice of work, that could serve as a warning or guide to those viewing it.

East meets West

Project Inspired my the opulent leather trade in Istanbul, whilst trying to take typically Western shapes (collar and cuffs) and join the two.
