This piece explores the link between lust and love: whether they can be one and the same, or whether they must be separate.
Lust being a strongly primal and carnal emotion, I immediately thought of the hands: to touch and grab, or the lips: to kiss and attract. But this seemed too obvious. So I began searching for another part of the body that would only be experienced by another if a physical relationship existed, and I came up with the belly button. Without realising, I had mentally linked a physically carnal relationship with a physically and mentally intimate relationship: combining lust and love (in the very nature of how it looks the belly button is intimate, being a small private hole, usually covered by cloths). But for me they are one and the same, because the one I love is also the one I lust. Lust is said to be defined by something you want but can not always or ever have. The geographical distance between the one I love and myself creates this situation and a strong feeling of lust.
Making a mold of his belly button that I could wear in my own belly button is my way of carrying a physical part of him with me, so I am always aware of it’s presence but others are not, similarly to feeling of lust and love.

Suffragette Science.

December 2012
The Medical Researc Centre (MRC), every two years, chooses to honours 12 women in 3 selected fields of science, for their achievements, and to combat the still ongoing fight women have to partake in against the glass wall.
They collaborate with my University (CSM): it is up to us to design the jewellery that will be made and give to these women to honour them. Outof 45 only 2 will be chosen and we still do not know who has won.
Because Only the winning pieces get made, all I have is an illustration of my design.

L'Oiseau

Leather project- November 2012
I designed a head piece/helmet, inspired by birds, and probably subconsciously also by my love of Sci-Fi.
I hald to mould the over all blue leather into shape, cut many little orange and purple strips, and punch out the eye holes.
Photos will follow shortly.

Hierloom Jewel

A Jewel can transcend the ages but Individuals can not. I wanted to look at how a piece of Jewellery passed down through family members will stay the same, even if the individuals do not. How it becomes a hierloom, what that can mean and how that can make us feels.
