This piece explores the link between lust and love: whether they can be one and the same, or whether they must be separate.
Lust being a strongly primal and carnal emotion, I immediately thought of the hands: to touch and grab, or the lips: to kiss and attract. But this seemed too obvious. So I began searching for another part of the body that would only be experienced by another if a physical relationship existed, and I came up with the belly button. Without realising, I had mentally linked a physically carnal relationship with a physically and mentally intimate relationship: combining lust and love (in the very nature of how it looks the belly button is intimate, being a small private hole, usually covered by cloths). But for me they are one and the same, because the one I love is also the one I lust. Lust is said to be defined by something you want but can not always or ever have. The geographical distance between the one I love and myself creates this situation and a strong feeling of lust.
Making a mold of his belly button that I could wear in my own belly button is my way of carrying a physical part of him with me, so I am always aware of it’s presence but others are not, similarly to feeling of lust and love.
